Border
You should now have 2 completed c2c pieces- side 1 and side 2.
We’re now going to increase the size of each piece by adding a few more rnds.
Right sides of pieces are shown in the images; work stitches on this side.
Starting with SIDE 1:
Rnd 1: {join shade ‘Paper White’ with a slst in ch-3 sp in top left hand corner}

{292 sc, 4 ch-2}
Fasten off
Tip: Refer to the image below if you’re unsure of st placement.
Rnd 2: {join shade ‘Bubblegum Pink’ with a slst in any ch-2 sp}
ch 1 {does not count as st}, *(2 hdc + ch 2 + 2 hdc) in ch-2 sp, hdc in each of the next 73 sts** rep from * to ** 4 times, slst in initial hdc.
{308 hdc, 4 ch-2}
Fasten off.
Rnd 3: {join shade ‘Paper White’ with a slst in any ch-2 sp}
ch 1 {does not count as st}, *(sc + ch 2 + sc) in ch-2 sp, sc in each of the next 77 sts** rep from * to ** 4 times, slst in initial sc.
{316 sc, 4 ch-2}
Fasten off.
Rnd 4: {join shade ‘Mandarin Orange’ with a slst in any ch-2 sp}

{332 hdc, 4 ch-2}
Fasten off.
Rnd 5: {join shade ‘Paper White’ with a slst in any ch-2 sp}
ch 1 {does not count as st}, *(sc + ch 2 + sc) in ch-2 sp, sc in each of the next 83 sts** rep from * to ** 4 times, slst in initial sc.
{340 sc, 4 ch-2}
Fasten off.
Rnd 6: {join shade ‘Buttercup Yellow’ with a slst in any ch-2 sp}
ch 1 {does not count as st}, *(3 hdc) in ch-2 sp, hdc in each of the next 85 sts** rep from * to ** 4 times, slst in initial hdc.
{352 hdc}
Fasten off.
Weave in all ends.
Repeat rnds 1-6 on SIDE 2, replacing the colours used in rnd 2, 4 & 6 with shades: Tea Rose, Washed Teal, Lime Green respectively.
Both pieces should now measure approx. 34 cm x 34 cm. Depending on your tension, this may vary. As long as your pieces measure slightly smaller than your insert, you should be fine!
Assembly
Time to put the cushion together!
Place the pieces wrong sides together- make sure the hearts on both sides are facing the same way.
Using yarn shade ‘Paper White’ and working only in the back loops of each side, slst the pieces together. Once the third side is completed, insert the cushion and continue to join the opening closed.
And you’re finished!
